Her songs are a true delight. Her guitar playing is something else and, combined with her goddess-given joy of a voice, her songs remind you of all those tracks you fall in love to. Her melodies stay with you long after the tune is over and though you can't always catch all the lyrics when she's on stage, close scrutiny bears poetic fruit.
The best thing you can do is to buy her forthcoming album (come on Jo, we're waiting!), take it home and jealously soak up
every note and line. And then do it again......
Review: Jo M (BBC) 25.03.07
Jo, donning her John Peel t-shirt was the final act of the evening. She took to the stage and seemed immediately comfortable. It was almost as though she had hypnotised the audience who stayed quiet and listened even she played the most delicate of ballads – no mean feat.
Jo was singing her own original songs and playing acoustic guitar. Her voice is gorgeous; warm and velvety. Think k.d.lang or Joan Armatrading but with her own distinct flavour. Her guitar style is reminiscent of The Who’s acoustic version of ‘Pinball Wizard’ – if you’ve never heard it, it’s awesome. If you conjure up Pete Townshend meets Tracy Chapman, then you’re in the zone, but the only real way to get my point is to go and see Jo Bailey play.
Jo is a natural performer. You can see that within two minutes, but its not staged flamboyant showmanship, she’s confident but endearingly coy at the same time. Her songs are short and sweet and considering she’s one woman and a guitar, she has the vital ability to arrange her songs. Her lyrics are honest and engaging. She sings “Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies” but I get the feeling that if you did ask her questions, she’d reply with insightful, evocative, beautiful verse.

A Confident, friendly performer. Jo is an expert guitarist with honeyed deep vocals.
